Solar Light Tube – Tubo Solar – Túnel de Luz – Sun Pipe
The dome is placed on the outside and maximizes the capture of natural sunlight that will enter the Solar Light Tube - Tunnel of Light - Sun Pipe - and that directs it to the solar diffuser placed inside the installation. The great advantage is that it can bring natural light to spaces that would otherwise be practically impossible to illuminate: Lighting of interior bathrooms, corridors, basements, etc. The domes, the Solar Light Tube – Light Tunnel – Sun Pipe and the solar diffusers have unique and selective features, so they transmit “good” light and eliminate harmful light (UV, and part of the Infrared) so that the heat transmission or cold to the inside is residual.
Manufactured in Portugal, in Europe, Chatron's Solar Light Tubes have a design based on energy efficiency and have great integration with the buildings' global lighting.
From studies carried out, we have found that, on average, about 80% of working hours in closed environments can be carried out with natural lighting, thus contributing directly to the reduction of energy consumption and, consequently, to the improvement of the energy efficiency of buildings. The physical and psychological health of all workers depends on the working conditions and if this is carried out in natural spaces, provided with natural light (lit with Solar Light Tube - Light Tunnel - Sun Pipe), then it will be better than in other places without these conditions.

The Solar Light Tube – Sun Tunnel – Sun Pipe from chatron is made of aluminum sheet with an interior mirror in superimposed layers and of great adhesion, not allowing its deterioration with longevity.

Eleva Therm Dome - Solar Light Tube Raised on the roof
When, due to the need to avoid accumulation of snow, accumulation of water, to avoid shading, etc., the dome of the Solar Tube has to be raised beyond the roof, up to 50 cm for example, so to maintain the same thermal insulation as if the dome was in its normal position on the base of the roof, we will have to insulate the cylinder of the roof base on the outside with rock wool with the same characteristics as that used in the insulation of the roof. The Solar Light Tube – Light Tunnel – Sun Pipe- Chatron has the “MAX LIGHT in AGGREGATOR” technology that allows for increased capture of natural light when it is most needed.
The “Aggregator device” brings together all the parts of the Solar Light Tube Kit and allows a perfect adaptation of the Max Light, covering the north half circle, increasing the capture of sunlight in winter, when the sun is low and when there is more need for it inside. of the building.
A specially studied mirror, conceived and directed to the perfect increase in the capture and introduction into the solar Light tube through the perfect interconnection of all the elements provided by the “aggregator device”.
Solar Light Tube Components
- The dome is made of high-impact polycarbonate, with excellent fire-retardant characteristics and extremely robust, which allows them to withstand strong impacts. It has good UV radiation filtering. No maintenance required. Its geometric shape was developed for self-cleaning. Weather conditions such as wind and rain will clean the dome. On the other hand, the domes are subjected during manufacture to an anti-adhesion treatment.
- Circular mirror to top off the solar Light tube hole on the building's interior ceiling. Allows you to disguise any imperfections resulting from the perforation of the building's roof, visible through the interior.
- Accessory for angles at 30º, 45º and 90º. All can be regulated. Additional tube lengths in 625mm, 1250mm or other measurements on request.
- The solar Light tube (in aluminum on the outside) is subject to the superposition of an inner layer in hot-rolled silver with high reflectivity (over 99.7%), thus preventing loss of light and allowing light to be transported over considerable distances. Chatron has already installed solar Light tubes with a length of up to 25 m and with low losses (less than 20% of its efficiency).
